About Boxcar Flower Farm

Boxcar Flower Farm is a women-owned farm located in a former parking lot in front of the beautiful train station at 16th and Wood Streets in West Oakland. During the pandemic, Jane Hammond and Linh Becker became active volunteers to keep the garden going and eventually purchased it. Years of soil amendment and a developing pollinator ecosystem have led to a proliferation of a wide variety of flowers in a one-sixth acre plot. The farm, which uses organic farming methods, has a thriving flower CSA, delivering seasonal blooms to local customers. Jane and Linh also provide flowers for events - they provide wedding florals, including corsages and boutonnieres, they work with the San Francisco Giants to decorate the stadium suites, and they actively donate to community causes. They now have two productive beehives, a giant worm composting box, many pollinating plants, and a farm cat. Visitors are welcome, but hours are irregular, so please make an appointment. They can also be found on Instagram @boxcarflowerfarm. Credit to Julie Reichle for photo in bio.
