The Importance of DEI in Dismantling Systemic Racism

We celebrate Black History Month, recognizing that the work and voices of Black individuals have been historically underrepresented, under-compensated, and co-opted. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion measures are an effort to offset the systematic racism that pervades culture and institutions.

Many factors account for the economic and social marginalization of BIPOC communities and we believe that it takes active attention to change this. We strive to have a base of artists and customers who represent the diversity of the Bay Area. We believe representation matters in our partnerships and the subjects of our puzzles. As a new and growing business, we are in the early stages of achieving our goals and we balance many factors when choosing images. We appreciate your support of Black artists this month and every day.

Special shout out to Gene Dominique, Brian Clarke (aka Les Toil), and Paul Lewin for your partnership.

The industry trend in graphic arts is to "buy out" the artist. This means that the company buys all rights to an image and the artist no longer receives licensing fees, or royalties. It has been important to us to counter that trend and compensate our artists based on our sales.  In most cases, our artists receive 10% of sales of their jigsaw puzzle which we pay quarterly.
