About the Artist-Sophie Diao

Sophie is an author and illustrator who finds inspiration in the natural world and the beauty of everyday moments. Based in Oakland, California, Sophie has a prolific career in both traditional publishing and digital media. She is the author and illustrator of Tiny Troubles: Nelli's Purpose and has illustrated several acclaimed titles, such as I Am Golden, Sarah and the Big Wave, and From Park to Playa.
In addition to her work in children’s literature, Sophie is a seasoned artist at Google, where she currently focuses on game design and previously spent over a decade creating Google Doodles. She has collaborated with a wide range of partners, including Pixar, Cartoon Network, and the California Academy of Sciences. When she isn't drawing, she can often be found gardening, hiking around the Bay Area, or working in a local pottery studio. You can find more of her work at sophiediao.com.
