Community Partners

Many of our puzzles raise funds and awareness about projects being done to better our community. We are grateful for these partnerships and hope that our puzzles will encourage others to support their work.

Boxcar Flower Farm

Two women posing in a garden in front of an ornate building

Boxcar Flower Farm is a women-owned farm located in a former parking lot in front of the beautiful train station at 16th and Wood Streets in West Oakland. During the pandemic, Jane Hammond and Linh Becker became active volunteers to keep the garden going and eventually purchased it. Years of soil amendment and a developing pollinator ecosystem have led to a proliferation of a wide variety of flowers in a one-sixth acre plot. The farm, which uses organic farming methods,  has a thriving flower CSA, delivering seasonal blooms to local customers.   Jane and Linh also provide flowers for events - they provide wedding florals, including corsages and boutonnieres, they work with the San Francisco Giants to decorate the stadium suites,  and they actively donate to community causes. They now have two productive beehives, a giant worm composting box, many pollinating plants, and a farm cat. Visitors are welcome, but hours are irregular, so please make an appointment. They can also be found on Instagram @boxcarflowerfarmCredit to Julie Reichle for photo in bio. DeAnna Tibbs took a photo during one of their Flower CSA deliveries and we made Boxcar Flower Farm Bouquets with the results!
